Hillary Clinton Behind the Scenes with NEW Reality TV Show

Wow, thanks for a few ATHC readers for the tip on a new reality TV show starring... you guessed it! Hillary!

According to The Examiner, The National Geographic Channel has been following Hillary Clinton's every move for an upcoming special that shows her day-to-day duties as the U.S. Secretary of State.

It is going to be called "Inside the State Department" and it will premier this spring.

Some things to look forward to are her first trip as secretary of state to the United Nations, and her overseas trips to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jerusalem and Africa. They are also following her advisers as they plan her agenda, brief her on each mission and strategize in the State Department Operations Center (which is filled with IMAX-size video screens showing satellite feeds from hot spots around the globe - tracking ongoing violence, attacks on embassies and even Secretary Clinton's motorcade under way in dangerous locales such as Pakistan... sounds AWESOME.)

They are also going to be detailing the intense security efforts to keep Secretary Clinton safe on a day to day basis, insight from the state department press corps who travel with her on each trip, and a personal tour of the treasure vault where gifts given to the president, first lady and secretary of state are stored.

"Our cameras were granted more access to the secretary and her team than any other camera crew ever has received, including press crews... We were literally flies on the wall, traveling from country to country, capturing conversations, witnessing interaction with head officials and experiencing moments behind closed doors."
A specific airdate has yet to be officially announced but it we can look forward to hearing more in the spring. In the meantime, visit www.natgeotv.com for more information.

Hillary ends feud between Conan O'Brien and Newark Mayor, receives Nobel Peace Prize

A recent feud between a politician and a media figure has gotten so heated that only Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could squash it. And no, she DIDN'T receive the Nobel Peace Prize (although these days I wouldn't be surprised!!) but she did create some peace between the two feuders, for now...

On Thursday's "Tonight Show," Secretary Clinton delivered a videotaped message to host Conan O'Brien and Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Cory Booker, who have been taking shots at each other for the past couple of weeks.

During the video she said this:

"As secretary of state, my job is to strengthen ties and improve relations, whether it be between nations around the world or between the mayor of a midsized American city and the host of a mildly amusing late-night talk show... Let's just chalk it up to Conan's head injury and be done with this whole mess."
She was refering to a concussion O'Brien recently got after falling during a sketch.

Hillary Clinton chairs as "President" a UN Security Council session on sexual violence

Today, the Secretary was presiding over the U.N. Security Council as they unanimously adopted a resolution condemning sexual violence in war zones.

The measure was passed by a 15-0 vote and it creates a special United Nations envoy to coordinate efforts to combat the use of rape as a weapon of war and directs U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to dispatch a team of experts to advise governments on how best to prosecute offenders.

Secretary Clinton told the council that "It is time for all of us to assume our responsibility to go beyond condemning this behavior to taking concrete steps to end it, to make it socially unacceptable, to recognize it is not cultural, it is criminal." She said that "We must act now to end this crisis."

During her speech, she drew on her experiences from her trip last month to the wartorn eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where she met numerous victims of rape and other sexual abuse. She said the United Nations had a special obligation to protect women and children who she said are "war's most vulnerable and violated victims."

She went on to say that "The dehumanizing nature of sexual violence doesn't just harm a single individual or a single family or even a single village or a single group... It shreds the fabric that weaves us together as human beings."

In addition to the appointment of a special representative and team of experts, the U.N. resolution also calls for the inclusion of women's protection advisers within U.N. peacekeeping missions and the deployment of large numbers of women police and military personnel.

Here is a bit more from the Secretary's speech today:

"The resolution we passed today represents a step forward in our global efforts to end violence perpetrated against women and children in conflict zones, and it builds on two prior Security Council resolutions: Resolution 1325, which called on all parties in conflicts to respect women’s rights and increase their participation in peace negotiations and post-conflict reconstruction efforts; and Resolution 1820, adopted last year, which affirms the ambitions set out in 1325, and establishes a clear link between maintaining international peace and security, and preventing and responding to sexual violence used as a tactic of war to target civilians."
And the best part of the day occured as the Secretary ended her speech. In a humorous moment (captured on all kinda of videos) Hillary teased:
"I resume now my function as president of the council. I kind of like being a president. So this may go on a little longer than anticipated."
The audience laughed, and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said to another roar of laughter, "Thank you, Madam President."

How much you wanna bet Hillary swiped that placard for her desk back at State? hehe Here is the clip of Hillary basking in the role of Presidend of the Council here:

Also, Chris Matthews put the clip of Hillary as "president" on his sideshow segment... He actually gave her some props saying she is doing the job and staying loyal... and for Matthews, that's being nice:

Hillary Clinton goes for Korean with Laura Ling and her Family

UPDATE: I WAS WRONG! They Lunched this past Sunday, September 13th! Thanks to a reader for clarifying!

It was a surprise to see that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took time out of her extremely busy Tuesday schedule to have lunch with American journalist Laura Ling, her family members and State Department officials at Woo Lae Oak, a Korean restaurant near Washington DC. Of course we all know that Laura Ling, who had been detained in North Korea for illegally entering the country with her colleague Euna Lee, returned home last month after Bill Clinton held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang and brought her home. Revisit that post here! I haven't found much details, like what they ate, how long they stayed etc... because yes, those are the details we want to hear... but I do know that they posed for photos and Hillary even signed a menu! Photo: Hillary and Bill Clinton have cocktails in Bermuda

Well, finally got the scoop on the Bill and Hillary Clinton's weekend getaway. And it looks like Hillary de-pantsuited during her vacation!!

According to Michael J. Winfield, President and CEO of Cambridge Beaches, the two arrived at the resort late on Tuesday evening and had intended to stay until Saturday. But as posted earlier, their visit was cut short due to Hurricane Bill and they chose to fly home to Washington on Thursday night. Mr. Winfield said:

"I can tell you that both President and Secretary Clinton expressed their sincere appreciation for being afforded the opportunity to relax and not be disturbed. As everyone is very aware they lead enormously stressful and taxing lives and rarely see much time to just, simply, relax.

While at Cambridge, they were remarkably open and were often seen around the property, enjoying breakfast with other guests on our Tamarisk Terrace, lunch at Shutters, swimming on one of our beaches and a private candlelight dinner on the occasion of President Clinton's 63rd birthday.

They interacted with guests and seemed relaxed and were always incredibly open and welcoming. It was truly a pleasure for us to host them for their stay. President Clinton played golf on the newly refurbished Port Royal course on Thursday morning and returning declared it to be 'fabulous' and that he had much enjoyed his round.

I am told that a very good score may have further boosted his enjoyment!"

Wow, for only being there two days, it sounds like they did a lot! Candlelight dinner, swimming, golf, not to mention, also meeting with Premier Ewart Brown and his wife Wanda, Governor Sir Richard Gozney, Lady Gozney and newly appointed US Consul General to Bermuda Grace Shelton for cocktails at Horizons Cottages, in Paget.

The photo is of the gathering last night at Horizons. Pictured (left to right): Consul General Grace Shelton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown, Wanda Henton Brown, President Bill Clinton, Lady Gozney and Sir Richard Gozney.

Mr. Winfield also added that "On departure late on Thursday evening, both the President and Secretary Clinton expressed a strong wish to return saying that their brief time with us had been 'wonderful'." Read entire post

BREAKING: Hurricane Billary heading towards Bermuda!

The Bermuda Sun is reporting (not so sure how reliable of a source) that the most famous power couple in the world, the Clinton's, are NOT going to be in Martha's Vineyard this weekend, like we all thought, but in Bermuda!

Reporting from both this newspaper and on CNN, the Clintons planned a four-day stay in Bermuda this weekend. The couple plans to fly by private jet to the island today Wednesday to take a trip down memory lane to the island where Bill and Hillary conceived Chelsea at Horizons cottage colony in Paget in the summer of 1979. Is it creepy that I know this? Let me answer... yes, yes it is.

Apparently, Bill and Hillary sought to stay in the same cottage they did three decades ago where Chelsea was conceived, but due to privacy and security issues the venue was unable to meet their needs.

Instead the word is that the Clintons will stay at the Cambridge Beaches Resort and Spa, an "adults only" facility that "caters to couples." This plush, resort has a "clothing optional" sky deck and occasionally hosts sex seminars to improve couples' relationships. Wow, am I really reading this?

If this is indeed true, their vacation plans might be hampered by the fast moving Hurricane Bill, a Category 3 storm that is currently on track to pass near the island at the end of the week. Coincidental name huh?

The State Department had no comment on reports of the trip, and a spokeswoman for the resort said there is no reservation for the Clintons this weekend but made sure to add in:"Even if they did have a reservation, we wouldn't say."
