Hillary Clinton official photo with Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan

Here is the official State Department photo of Hillary Clinton holding bilateral talks with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.

She also spoke to Foreign Minister Lavrov of Russian and Foreign Minister Yang of China and iscussed North Korea and Iran, according to the daily State Deptartment press briefing.

"The Secretary has been in today. This morning, she met with senior staff. I think you also saw that she had a meeting with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. They discussed a number of bilateral issues, and also discussed areas of cooperation and some of our bilateral trade issues as well.

The Secretary spoke with Foreign Minister Lavrov and Foreign Minister Yang today, and the focus of – in those two phone calls was primarily on North Korea, but they also, of course, discussed Iran."

Hillary Clinton working from home today

At today's press briefing at the State Department, spokesman Ian Kelly gave the Hillary-broken-arm-what-the-heck-is-she-doing-today update.

He said:

"The Secretary’s working from home today. She’s reviewing documents, the same kinds of documents that she’d be looking at if she were in the office, briefing memos and the like. She’s making – continues to make phone calls to counterparts overseas and also within Washington. As I said to you yesterday, she spoke with Foreign Minister Miliband yesterday. She also spoke with Foreign Minister Steinmeier, and she spoke with Foreign Minister Kouchner today."

Well, seeing that I am a little bit obsessed with following the details of the fracture status, this was a delightful dose of news. Just as an aside, I have been I particularly amused with some of the news headings regarding Hillary's injury. My favorite of the moment: the CBS article that came out with yesterdays photos of Hillary with the title: "Hillary's Cast Revealed!" It just sounds so scandalous!

Secretary Clinton will NOT travel to her scheduled meetings in Europe

Well today after purusing the news, found out that Hillary was in fact at work today. She didn't have any public appearances on the schedule but State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said this to the press:

"The secretary was in the office this morning. She attended her morning staff meetings. She's already made a few phone calls. She made a bunch of phone calls over the weekend, as well."

Kelly also said she has some mobility issues because there's a "big cast" on her arm and its in a sling. And to make matters worse she's right-handed! Kelly went on to say "And she's a right-hander, so ... she's got some dexterity and mobility issues... But she was on top of her game this morning."

It also was announced that Secretary Clinton, on her doctor's advice, will not travel to Europe for two meetings.

Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg will attend the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe meeting in Corfu, Greece, and Undersecretary William Burns will represent the United States at the Group of Eight foreign ministerial meeting in Trieste, Italy, department spokesman Ian Kelly said during a media briefing.

Kelly said Clinton called the foreign ministers of Italy and Greece "to express her regret that she wouldn't be able to attend those two meetings." Read entire post
