Hillary and David Hit it Off in Brussels

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived at NATO headquarters ahead of a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Friday, December 4th. The goal of this meeting is for the U.S. and its allies to prevail in their bid to stabilize Afghanistan.

Some two dozen countries will send an estimated 7,000 more troops to Afghanistan next year, the chief of NATO said Friday as Secretary Clinton told her allied counterparts that an infusion of forces is crucial to turning the tide in the long war.

After the NATO meeting, Secretary Clinton spoke to reporters on NATO troop deployment at NATO Headquarters.Read her full remarks here or watch below:

But for some of us, what has been grabbing headlines is the flirt fest between Hillary and David Miliband. Now, we al remember from Hillary's interview in Vogue Magazine, when she confessed her love for David. Don't remember? Okay, okay, I may be exagerating... she did profess a little crush. Here's the clip from Vogue:

... When I mentioned to [Hillary] over lunch that I had spoken with [David], she lit up. "Oh, my God!" I joked that I got a crush over the phone in about five seconds partly because of his accent, and she said, "Well, if you saw him it would be a big crush. I mean, he is so vibrant, vital, attractive, smart. He's really a good guy. And he's so young!"

Miliband had nice things to say about her, too: "She applies intellect but also psychology to the dossiers that she's studying. She uses her experience in a very impressive way. She brings it to bear in a way that enriches a conversation but doesn't swamp it. She learns from history without being trapped by it. I think it's also important to say that she's delightful to deal with one on one. She's someone who laughs and can tease, and she's got perspective as well."

Well, over at the NATO meeting this Friday it was easy to see how special their transatlantic relationship really is. Reports have been just gushing over the two of them saying they "looked like a couple of overexcited teenagers... There was shoulder rubbing, lots of eye contact and laughing, and at one stage Mrs Clinton seemed to be reaching down to give her neighbour a back massage."

Ohhh la la... I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.

Hillary and Fabian Sittin in a Tree...

So while ATHC was out of commission, there was a lot of Hillary action we missed out on. So, here's a little bit of catching up.

While speaking at a college in the Philippines on Friday, November 13th, Secretary Clinton was asked this pressing question:

"If you had a crush, aside from Bill Clinton, who would it be?"
Hillary mentioned one name. Fabian. Her crush as a schoolgirl in the fifties and sixties. She said:
"Many, many, many, many years ago, when I was young, there was a singer in the United States whose name was Fabian. Some of you who are my age remember. And I was president of the Fabian fan club. And there were, like, three of us in it, but we took it very seriously."
Well, I am sure everyone was hoping for a different answer... but we got what we got so oh well. But NY Magazine did some digging as asked Fabian — who still performs with other acts of his era like Bobby Vee and the Chiffons — to see if the feeling was mutual.

Apparently Fabian was impressed, first and foremost, with how Hillary dodged the question asked of her to begin with. He said:

"It was fucking incredible... You know what I mean? I mean, I thought that was just fucking brilliant. I thought it was beautiful — being a politician, she got herself out of that one pretty good... The reason why I’m really a fan of hers is that with all she has been through [laughs], she comes out great... I mean, she came through Bill Clinton, she came through Obama, and she’s making the best with what she has."
I think we can all agree with that! He continued, "I mean, she’s an incredible woman. You know, she’s got bigger balls than most men out there." That's an incredible woman, indeed.

Huma Abdein and Anthony Weiner Engaged!

Sorry, ladies: He's officially taken.

And sorry fellas: So is she.

After years as one of Washington's most eligible bachelors, Representative Anthony Weiner finally popped the question to Huma Abedin.

Now we all know Huma. Hillary's right hand woman. Her most trusted and loyal confidant. The woman whose job most of us would give our first born for...

If you don't know her, Abedin was born in Michigan to a Pakistani mother and an Indian father. She grew up in Saudi Arabia and attended college in the United States.

She interned in the First Lady's office in 1996. Abedin was then hired as a staff assistant to the First Lady’s chief of staff, Maggie Williams. For several years, she was the backup to Mrs. Clinton’s permanent personal aide, Allison Stein, and she officially took over as Mrs. Clinton’s aide and advisor around the time of the 2000 Senate race. During Clinton's Presidential campaign her title was “traveling chief of staff.” Now she is employed by the State Department as.... hmm, not sure of her official title actually.

She has been described by admirers as maintaining both her flawless couture and her calm in the throes of Clinton's presidential campaign. Much is unknown about her and I think many are infactuated by this mystery woman. Just take a look at this old story from the New York Observer.

Anyways, back to the news at hand... Its been reported that Weiner, 44, proposed to Abedin, 33, over Memorial Day weekend and although no date has been set, the couple is "thrilled" about the upcoming nuptials.

All I seem to care about is will this effect our Secretary of State and if Huma's position opens, where can I apply? Seriously, just look at that photo above... I. want. that. job. Read entire post

Joe Scarborough <3 Hillary

‘Hillary Clinton Was Absolutely Ravishing Last Night.’

Yes, believe it. Those words came from the mouth of Joe Scarborough this morning on MSNBC's Morning Joe. Joe was actually in the Chamber at last night's address so he got a little bit of a better view.

Now, if there's one thing I can say about Joe, he is brutally honest. I don't doubt for a second that he was TRULY taken aback by her. I mean, who wasn't?! She did look stunning! But deep down I think Joe loves a woman in power. He is secretly relishing her new post as Secretary of State.

To prove my point, here is a clip back from the campaign. The first few minutes show him and Hillary flirting a little back and forth. It may seem snarky at first and she's clearly joking but I dunno about Joe...

Third Stop: South Korea, cont.

After her press conference with South Korean officials, Secretary Clinton visited Seoul's Ewha University, the world's LARGEST all girls university in the world. This, I feel, is an extremely important stop on her trip. It wasn't that long ago that women were discouraged from attending college in Korea back in the 60s and 70s. At Ewha University men who are not employed by the school are NOT allowed to enter the school grounds (except a few extremely lucky guys: exchange students from outside Korea). Ewha was established when women getting any education was highly disapproved. No man, not even the father of a student, could come into the school and stop a women from getting an education here. The rule survives today. Amazing story, huh?

Another reason this visit is important is because this is a part of her outreach to ordinary citizens in addition to meeting with formal heads of state and such. This style of gathering mirrors the countless town halls of her campaign days; a format Hillary feels quite comfortable in. About 2,000 students gathered to see her speak. They gave a standing ovation as she entered the hall and frequently interrupted her speech with applause.

All but one question during the hour-long town hall meeting were personal, having to do with her upbringing, family and career. She said, "I feel more like an advice columnist than a secretary of state," she said. It's been reported that her book, "Living History" was very popular here; which probably sparked so much interest in her personal life.

"No country has yet achieved full equality for women. There is still a lot ahead for us to make sure that gender equality becomes reality... Part of my mission as the secretary of state is (making sure) the United States is committed to enhancing the rights of women."
Clinton expanded on women's issues saying society still makes it very hard for women to balance family and work. She called for more flexible working hours. She reminisced about her own experience working for the Rose law firm when male colleagues pretended not to know she was pregnant. After she had Chelsea, she received a call from a colleague asking when she was coming back to work. According to Hillary, the guy didn't understand the concept of maternity leave.

One questioner asked Clinton to describe her relationship with her daughter Chelsea. The response she gave was, "We could be here for hours!"

The best question, and the one that is getting the most attention in the media was about Bill. When asked how she knew that ex-president Bill was and is her one true love, she responded: "How does anybody know about love? If you can describe it, you may not fully be experiencing it. My husband is my best friend. We have an endless conversation ... we never get bored... I just feel very fortunate that I have a relationship that's been so meaningful to me in my adult life." She continued to speak about love saying "personal relationships are really what's important in life." She quoted a dying friend, a scientist, summing up her life: "I've loved and been loved. And all the rest is background music."

After the discussion, she waded into crowds of students despite nervous glances from her security detail (note the guy in the blue tie hehe). She worked the rope line and happily taken time to pose for photos with pretty much anyone who has gotten close enough to ask for one. The enthusiastic response from the crowd of students seem to energize her despite the extremely harsh and tiring travel. She also shook hands with South Korea's first astronaut Yi So-yeon and signed copies of her book during a meeting with female leaders that took place at the University.

Later that night, she arrived in the capitol city of China: Beijing. She was greeter by two senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She will be making this a three day long visit in Beijing. With bated breath, I am waiting, and the world is waiting for what is to happen the next few days. This is going to be intense!
