Travel: More details on Hillary Clinton's trip to Russia

So more details on Secretary Clinton's upcoming trip to Russia are flowing in! According to Ian Kelley at State, over half of her visit to Russia will be devoted to official meetings with Russian top government officials.

Kelly said in reply to a question from Interfax that Clinton is set to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and that the U.S. has also requested for her to meet with President Dmitry Medvedev. Kelly went on to say that the secretary of state is NOT planning to meet with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

During her stay in Russia, Clinton may visit another city in addition to Moscow, Kelly said. He didn't say specifically which city but he did deny that this might be St. Petersburg.

Lets not forget that this is a part of a previously reported trip. If you do not already know, tomorrow Secretary Clinton is heading to London, Belfast, Dublin, and Moscow and will be gone from October 9th through 15th.

From what info I can gather, it seems that Clinton's visit to Russia would last from October 12th to 14th and the main topics and agenda of her visit is likely to include missile defense, strategic nuclear arms cuts, the situation in Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea, and most likely many other subjects including another round of talks by the two sides on replacing the cold war-era Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START I).

The Russian Foreign Ministry described her trip as an important step in moving the Russia-U.S. partnership forward after a summit in July of the presidents of the two countries in Moscow built a strong base.
