HBO to make a movie of the 2008 Campaign

So, if you thought we were safe from the 2008 campaign... you were wrong! It is coming back! HBO is going to be making a movie about the recent Presidential race, with actors portraying Barack Obama, John McCain, Sarah Palin, and Hillary and Bill Clinton.

The movie is based on a book that doesn't even exist yet! But it does have a title: Game Change: Obama And The Clintons, McCain And Palin, And The Race Of A Lifetime. The book is being written by Time Magazine editor-at-large Mark Halperin and New York Magazine political correspondent John Heilemann.

They decided to do a book that focused more on the characters (meaning the candidates) than the pollsters and campaign teams. Heilemann knew Barack Obama from their Harvard days, Halperin had become acquainted with Sarah Palin, and they both knew Joe Biden, McCain and the Clintons.

"Focusing on those characters went to the essence of why this was the campaign of a lifetime, not just for the candidates, but for the country," Halperin said. "It's funny to call Obama and Hillary characters, but that's how I have to look at them." The network has hired "Blood Diamond" scribe Charles Leavitt to adapt the behind-the-scenes look at the 2008 presidential election from the perspective of the candidates and their respective camps.

And I know we all remember that HBO made a deal for Peter Morgan to direct his script "The Special Relationship," setting Dennis Quaid to play Bill Clinton, Julianne Moore to play Hillary Clinton, Michael Sheen to play British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Helen McCrory to play Cherie Blair. See that post here!

To me, it is so interesting that movies and books are just popping up all over the place about the 2008 campaign! It hasn't even been a year since the election! There is so much about this that is strange to me... I am not sure how I feel about this... Thoughts???

I am wondering if this is pure fiction or will it contain any factual information, like how the DNC paid super-delegates to vote for Obama and all the rampant caucus fraud by Obama & Co. and ACORN's massive voter registration fraud. Unless the movie includes any and all of the above, it is just a lie about what happened during election 2008. Will they include race-baiting by Obama surrogates and turning the Clintons into racists for Obama to win the election? Will it include Obama's friendship with Tony Rezko which got him into the Illinois congress and paid for his house in Hyde Park? I doubt it. This will be nothing more than a fairy story like Cinderella and no doubt the Clintons will be the big bad sisters with Obama as Cinderella winning the golden prize.

This is absolutely ridiclous of them to do. I think all of obama's hollywood producer friends are trying to re-write history.

Why is there going be an infactual lying movie about something we JUST lived through for over a year? Protest this movie! Protest HBO! Recruit protesters in front of HBO's headquarters!!

Here we go. I'll take a wait and see approach with this. BTW. Contact Gigi Gaston...she has some film footage you may want to see. I repeat contact Gigi Gaston and while you are at it, talk to Heidi Li and Dr. Lynette Long too.

If this movie is to be about Hillary's life I hope it includes her entire record all the way back to her community organizing days on the south side of Chicago when she organized students to provide free babysitting to new immigrant families. I hope it includes her education initiatives, work with children's hospital, head start and her pro bono work for abused women and children.

And above ALL I hope it doesn't play negative on an ambitious woman. There's far, far too much of that in this world. We ought to be teaching young women to be ambitious.

Who is consulting?? And who did the director vote for? Sorry it's just that this year that question seems particularly pertinent to the making of any film about Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I have a feeling about this film and it's not a good one. We'll see if the truth of things is REALLY told.

Contact Gigi Gaston, Heidi Li and Dr. Lynette Long. I'd LOVE to know who is consulting on this movie.

Another anti-Clinton hit piece, I'd say.

"Obama and The Clintons" -- where is Hillary as the candidate in that formulation?

Here we go again two MEN who are going to try and make a movie about the effects and realities of this years election. It will be another degrading experience for women.

Why does everyone assume this movie will be anti-Hillary, and ignore realities in favor of Obama? Will Obama likely be made a hero, yes, he was the winner after all, but I'll hold back judgment until seeing it for myself. If you go into it with your decision made, than of course you'll find problems.

I agree a little bit with that last post... i am not sure that the movie is going to be anti-hillary. it better not be! that would be really shameful for HBO...

my main problem with this is making a movie about something that JUST HAPPENED!! less than a year ago! all of these "characters" that they are referring to are working right now to restore and rebuild our country... i just dont think NOW is the time, if there even is a proper time, to be going back to the 2008 campaign.

it was a historic election in so many ways for so many people... so much emotion there.

I've got a bad feeling about this, but will hold off judgement until I get a chance to actually see it.
I do, however, agree that we should give girls examples of ambitious women who are more than just hot objects. Hillary is the best example I can think of to act as a role model for girls. My daughter (who was eight at the time) looked up to Hillary when she was running for president. "So a woman can be president?" she asked me one day, with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. I said yes & Hillary will be the first. Someday, she will be.

If they do this film, someone needs to make one that shows the real version including the RBC meeting, ladies with walkers going to polls and getting harrassed, locked out and threatened...the phoney roll call..the murder of Bill Gwatney and Stephanie Tubbs Jones and all the vote theft, the poll skewing, the tossing of Hillary's votes in the trash and adding that many votes to Obama under those names who's votes for Hillary were tossed in the trash..on and on...the people paid to be Obama's audience..Did you know that prior to the Portland Oregon waterfront Obama rally with the Decemberists free concert, Obama was taking in only about 3,000 in his rallies in Portland Metro? True thing...than came the free concert..The fact that Obama cronies think that perception is reality is outlandish.
The fact that Hillary got 260,000 votes to Obama's 360,000 votes in Oregon is fishy. That's about 600,000 votes and Oregon usually takes in at least 950,000 votes. What happened to the other votes?
