Upcoming Trip: Hillary Clinton to visit Ireland in October

It has just been confirmed via Shaun Woodward, the Northern Ireland secretary, that Hillary Clinton is set to visit Northern Ireland in the upcoming weeks. She is going there to discuss jobs and investment.

Woodward told delegates during his speech to Labour's conference in Brighton: "I can announce today that within the next few weeks Hillary Clinton specifically wants to come to Northern Ireland to help look at the jobs and opportunities and investment that America can bring to Northern Ireland."

He also mentioned former US president Bill Clinton, saying the two of them had been "unstinting" in their support for Northern Ireland.

Also other Irish news sources are stating that the State Department will announce later today that Secretary Clinton will pay a visit to London, Dublin and Belfast from 10 October to 12 October. Saying she will travel first to London on October 10th, then to Dublin on October 11th, where she is expected to meet Taoiseach Brian Cowen and Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin. And finally, on October 12th she will travel to Belfast to meet political leaders in Northern Ireland.
