Participants from Manitoba, Canada to Santiago, Chile, gathered in the State Department’s Treaty Room to discuss how empowering women was integral to progress, prosperity, and peace in every country.
The conference, co-sponsored by the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, featured dynamic, innovative, and interactive programs linking early career entrepreneurs with more seasoned businesswomen. Early career entrepreneurs were chosen based on their readiness to expand their businesses into new markets. Supporting these businesswomen provides a multiplier effect for not only those businesses, but also for their communities and the entire region.
These entrepreneurs met with Secretary Clinton and also heard her speak. In her remarks, the Secretary discussed how empowering women was integral to progress, prosperity, and peace in every country, and praised the women for having the courage and commitment to work for a better future.
