Hillary Clinton in India: Day Two Breakfast & Press Conference

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton began her first full day in India with breakfast with top Indian business leaders from India Inc.

Amongst those from India Inc who were present at the meeting included Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Group and Reliance Industries' Mukesh Ambani. Others present were the chiefs of India's two largest banks, O P Bhatt of State Bank and Chanda Kochhar of ICICI Bank, Swati Piramal and Sudha Murthy, wife of Infosys Founder N R Narayana Murthy and a leading proponent of corporate social responsibility initiatives in the country.

Industrialist Jamshyd Godrej and Tata Group official R K Krishna Kumar also interacted with Clinton along with renowned corporates including Ashok Ganguly and Amrita Patel.

The fact that Secretary Clinton's first scheduled meeting is with these business leaders, instead of top government officials, shows a very clear sign that the global recession and the economy is at the forefront of the U.S.'s agenda.

During this meeting they discussed the subject of protectionism and outsourcing, as well as CSR, corporate social responsibility, a subject close to Clinton's heart.

After the first meeting it was on to the second; A meeting with the survivors of 26/11 at at the Taj Hotel including Hemant Oberoi, head chef and one of the heroes of the November 26th attacks. She signed a memorial book (very slowly and carefully with her right arm!).

Watch a great clip of Hillary attending the commemoration and signing the memorial book below!

This was followed by a press conference at the hotel, explaining her goals for the India trip including comments terrorism, science and technology, as well as taking questions.
