Bill and Ted's Excellent (Service) Adventure

NTY is reporting that Barack Obama is bringing Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy together for the first time since Kennedy backed Obama as President over Bill's wife, Hillary.

Obama, Clinton and Kennedy will gather at the Seed School in Washington on Tuesday, where Mr. Obama is to sign the Edward M. Kennedy National Service Act into law. The legislation builds on Mr. Obama’s call to service by creating new opportunities for millions of America to volunteer.

It is likely to be an important and emotional moment for Ted Kennedy, who is being treated for brain cancer and whose brother, former President John F. Kennedy Jr., created the Peace Corps four decades ago.

This bill may have meaning for Bill Clinton because the bill would put Americorps – the often-called "domestic Peace Corps" which he created as President in 1993 – on a path to grow from its current level of 75,000 to 250,000 annual volunteers.

Also, the work that Bill Clinton does today with his own foundation, is rooted in service working to implement innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges, including poverty alleviation, climate change, global health, and education.

The Times is reporting that Mr. Clinton "grew furious with Mr. Kennedy during last year’s Democratic presidential primary campaign, when the senator broke with the Clintons and supported Mr. Obama over Hillary Rodham Clinton."

According to them, "Mr. Clinton is still miffed."

.......Now, I wouldn't want to cross Billy C. myself... but I don't think there are any hard feelings here. Just my opinion though!

I don't think there will be any demonstrations of ill-will or hard feelings. Bill, Ted, Hillary etc. are all adults who understand the harsh realities of politics and despite President Clinton's understandable anger at Sen. Kennedy supporting Obama in the election, the fact is that both he and Hillary have had to make difficult political choices and make, at times, difficult political alliances. Also, Ted Kennedy is very sick and probably doesn't have a whole lot of time left, although I hope that's not the case.

I can't help but think that when someone is looking up-close at the reality of a life-threatening illness, things are put more in perspective and a past political disagreement may seem pretty minor in comparison.

Of course, this is all my opinion- I have no way of knowing what is going on inside any of their heads (I wish I did though!).

Exactly- I agree.

The media likes to blow things out of proportion. There have been so many times that Hillary or Bill and Obama etc. have said that during the harsh campaign time things get tense but that is only because of the tight race that was run.

Bill and Ted go waaay back and they are great friends. Hillary is working with Obama now. I dont see a reason why Bill would hold a grudge AT ALL!

Hillary's favorite quote applies here: "Every moment wasted looking back keeps us from moving forward. Life is too short, time is too precious, and the stakes are too high to dwell on what might have been."

That and so many other things about Hillary is why she is one of my idols!
