Hillary makes some important Saturday morning phone calls

Looks like Hillary was up and working this morning! Reports are coming in that she telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari and conveyed to him the US support for democracy in Pakistan.

According to the News Network International news agency, she discussed with Zardari the regional and bilateral issues and the forthcoming 'Friends of Democratic Pakistan' meeting to be held in Tokyo next month. Possible another trip to Tokyo??

She said the US would support Pakistan in every possible manner to tide over its difficulties and that the US was keen to see a stable and democratic system strengthened in the country.

Zardari thanked Clinton for the US support to Pakistan.

She made another call today to former Pakistani prime minister and chief of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Nawaz Sharif. They also discussed the prevailing situation in the country.
