Ok- the National Enquirer stated today that Chelsea Clinton is planning a lavish million dollar wedding to her current boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky for this summer. They are reporting that it is to be taking place on a hill somewhere overlooking the ocean. What?!
Now, normally I would dismiss anything written by the Enquirer other than for good entertainment but I duuunnnooo... If it is true that would be pretty crazy, but I would be happy for Chelsea!
It seems like Chelsea and Marc have been keeping their relationship pretty private. So here is what I dug up on the guy:
Marc Mezvinsky is the son of former Iowa congressman (oh and convicted felon!) Edward Mezvinsky and former NBC reporter and congresswoman Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky.
Chelsea and Marc met through their parents in 1993 at Renaissance Weekend, an annual event in Hilton Head.
They both attended Stanford University. He studied finance, she studied History.
They were first spotted together publically at the restaurant TAO in Las Vegas. Nice!
They went public with their relationship in October 2007.
Chelsea is a Methodist (like her mom!) but she still attended Yom Kippur services with Marc at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2008.
Marc is currently an investment banker at Goldman Sachs.
He just recently recently forked over an impressive $4 million for a 10th floor apartment overlooking the park on lower Fifth Avenue. (note- the furniture in the image is of the seller's not Marc's... I'd imagine his would be much less chic)

Just a small correction, Sarah: Chelsea studied history at Stanford, not finance.
I think it's quite possible she'll get married this summer, but even the Enquirer makes it sound like the details (such as the site) are still being worked out. Knowing what Chelsea is like, I also expect it to be tasteful. And it'll probably take place somewhere where the media are kept at a distance so she has a little privacy.
BTW, Marc is a cutie, lol.
Martha's Vineyard is my guess.

But here's what I think is kind of odd: The statement "this report is false" strikes me as carefully worded. Why not say, "Chelsea is not engaged and has no plans to get married this summer." Perhaps she is getting married but some of the details in the Enquirer (the million-dollar part, for example) are not true?

that is a good point about the carefully worded response but im not sure...
the only reason I really doubt that she is getting married is why would they all want to keep it a secret? they could still have a private ceremony with lots o secret service and still make an announcement.
if chelsea was planning something as huge as they are saying, you think someone somewhere would be able to leak us some REAL details.
Sarah, One of the problems I had with the article was it talked about a million-dollar wedding, and doing something that splashy doesn't sound like Chelsea at all.
And because Chelsea's a private person, I doubt any official word of her impending wedding will come out till several months before. I mean, it won't be a year's notice or anything.
The Enquirer is a actually a pretty good source of info. They pride themselves on being the first to break a story, especially after the John Kerry incident.
So I tend to believe them.

What are they waiting for -- her prime childbearing years are going by.
But.... hummmm... I m just thinking..
How the hell is this whole thing (people's privacy) that important to you or anybody else for that matter. Who gives a rat whether she gets married or not, this summer or in 90 years.
just proves dogs can get a rich dude, too.
