Planned Parenthood Honors Hillary Clinton

Friday night, Secretary Clinton will be traveling to Houston, Texas to be being honored and awarded by Planned Parenthood!

Planned Parenthood is paying tribute to reproductive health and rights advocates who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women’s health care through their work promoting prevention and family planning.

The awards gala and dinner is the highlight of the 2009 Planned Parenthood National Conference. This year the National Conference is hosted by Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas and gala co-chairs are Ginni and Richard Mithoff.

The 2009 Planned Parenthood Federation of America Margaret Sanger Award, the organization’s highest honor, will be presented to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has been a champion of women’s health and rights throughout her public service career.

Co-hosting the event with Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards is Hillary's friend from the campaign trail (oh and Ugly Betty star) America Ferrera.

Reports are saying that during the VIP reception, State Representative Carol Alvarado will introduce Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee, who will then introduce Hillary.

You mean, the guys who endorsed Obama over her? A day late and a dollar too short. Trying to get the women back now - not unlike Donna Brazile who wants "to chart course for a woman president"

@edgeoforever - I feel like we are going to be seeing a LOT of this kind of thing... I am not surprised at all that people are now coming out of the woodwork praising our girl, Hill.

It is hypocritical but I am just glad she is getting the recognition she deserves, and has ALWAYS deserved.

thanks for the link- is that your blog??

Wasn't Hillary a tad hypocritical at this event? She said that reproductive rights as well as women's rights and empowerment are key issues in Obama's foreign policy. Really? After her first trip as Secretary of State, to China, she said that we weren't going to engage the Chinese in human rights issues, Taiwan or Tibet. Instead we were going to work on climate issues. Does Hillary think none of the people in China, Tibet or Taiwan are women? Does she think that China's policy of forcible abortion is true reproductive rights?

I welcome Obama's reversal of Bush's family planning policies and Hillary has done a lot to maintain the right to choose so she deserves the reward.

My beef is old "tell 'em what they want to hear" thing. Women's rights have not been a part of Obama's policies so far and as exhibited in the China talk, won't be.

Hillary was not hypocritical at this event. When Hillary went to China she did discuss human rights with the Chinese (as she stated later). It was done in private. Everyone jumps at the chance to criticize her without knowing the facts. That's too bad...but I'm sure she is used to it.
